DRIVETRAIN PUTS CUSTOMERS FIRST - A Q&A WITH OUR CONSULTANTS

Behind the Scenes at Drivetrain Direct

How we get you back on the road.

Replacing a powertrain unit is a major event. To show you exactly how we help you navigate this situation, we've outlined the Drivetrain Direct process below, from your first phone call to the final mile.

Phase 1: Consultation & Fitment Check

Why should I call Drivetrain Direct?
You aren't talking to an order taker; you're talking to an experienced automotive Consultant. We act as your guide, giving you access to the same "pro-level" inventory as professional mechanics, but with the personal guidance needed to confidently source the best parts for your specific repair.

How do you ensure the part will fit?
We don't guess. We rely on your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) to be precise. Because we take the time to verify this data manually, we offer a Fitment Guarantee. We invest this time upfront so you don't waste time and money on returns.

What comes with the unit?
Our consultants clear this up immediately. Most remanufactured automatic transmissions include the torque converter. We help you inventory exactly what you can transfer from your old unit versus what is new, saving you money by not selling unnecessary parts.

Phase 2: Discuss Options (New vs. Used vs. Reman)

Where does the part come from?
We guide most customers toward remanufactured units because they hit the sweet spot of value and reliability. Unlike a "used" unit (a gamble) or a "new" unit (expensive), a reman unit is rebuilt to OEM specs, often with improvements to the original design.

What happens during remanufacturing?
Every unit is completely disassembled, cleaned, and inspected. All wear parts are replaced with 100% new components. Our partners often install heavy-duty upgrades to fix original factory flaws. Finally, every unit is thoroughly tested (Sims tested for engines, Dyno tested for transmissions) before it ships.

What if a part is out of stock?
For rare units, we utilize our "Build-to-Order" capabilities, commissioning a specific build from our partners. It takes a little longer, but gives you access to parts you can't find elsewhere.

Phase 3: Ordering, Logistics & Delivery

How do you ship a 400lb unit?
We ship via freight. For residential deliveries, we arrange for a truck with a liftgate to lower the pallet to your driveway, a service we provide at no extra charge.

What is the timeline?
Most in-stock units ship in 1-2 days, with a typical transit time of 3-5 days from our nationwide warehouses.

How does the core return work?
We make it easy and we cover the return freight shipping cost. As a special perk, if you ship your new unit to a licensed repair shop, we waive the core deposit upfront.

Phase 4: Warranty & Support

What if something goes wrong?
This is our biggest differentiator. We don't hand you off to a third-party. At Drivetrain Direct, we handle the warranty in-house. We act as your advocate to get the problem sorted quickly.

Does the warranty cover the mechanic's bill?
Yes. Our Superior Warranty covers Parts AND Labor. We offer basic labor coverage as standard and have upgraded plans that cover labor up to $170/hour plus towing and rental car coverage. This provides true financial security.

Is the warranty valid nationwide?
Absolutely. You can seek warranty work at any certified shop nationwide. Your coverage travels with you and is fully transferrable, adding value to your vehicle.
